Faculty Senate Minutes

January 29, 2004



Call to Order:

Faculty Senate President Barry Nelson called the meeting to order at 4:06pm.


Senators Present:

Blessing Caldwell, Cluff, Haney, Hegeman, Hennessy, Hunt, Mikkelsen, Ottinger, Wacek, Wagner, Williams, Senate President Nelson, Senate Past President Greiert, Senate Vice-President Tapia, Senate Secretary Andrews.

Special meeting for MWSC Peer Review Integration Committee:


The Senate considered the previously approved agenda to nominate and appoint faculty members to serve on the new “Peer Review Integration Committee”. The following listing indicates faculty members who were appointed from each school and academic rank after discussion and voting by the Faculty Senate.

Members of the Senate thanked Senator Ottinger and Senator Hegeman for their work on the committee selection proposal offered at the beginning of the nomination process.


Senator Caldwell brought to the attention of the Senate a proposed change in the salary structure of “distance education”. This new proposal was introduced to a joint-chairs meeting held January 28, 2004.


Senator Mikkelsen indicated a concern that faculty were not represented on the make-up of the committee structure proposing the salary structure change.


Faculty Senate President Nelson stated he would put the item on the next agenda for Senate discussion.


Vice-President Tapia offered the following list indicating the Senators whose terms end this Spring (04):

All Senators whose terms are expiring are encouraged to be aware of the upcoming School elections, LAS – February 4, 2004 and PS – February 24, 2004.
